This important card includes a rarity for surviving Zeenut cards, as it shows a Collins-McCarthy Candy Co. business stamp ("JJ McCarthy" in blue ink) on its reverse. Collins-McCarthy of San Francisco produced the Zeenut candy itself, as well as the long-running card sets of PCL players under its Zeenut name. Candy companies often used ink stamps as a prize exchange for their return, similar to a lottery, to encourage more purchases. Surviving stamps will be rare, compounded by 1911's already known scarcity. (The PSA population report shows just 194 total graded examples for 1911, with most players having a handful at most.) Stamp and speciality collectors should find this appealing, regardless of its technical grade. That said, its SGC GD 2 has modest corner rounding, some surface speckles, and a corner crease at upper left. Harry McArdle's photo remains excellent and memorable, looking more like a studio model than scrappy infielder.

Love of the Game offers a number of singles from scarce and desirable PCL sets in this auction. 1911 Zeenut cards rate among the most appealing and presentable of its era, with even collector grade examples showing high demand. Photos from this set offer important insight into players, teams, and uniforms from a competitive league that helped many MLB players extend their pro careers on coastal teams or launch local prospects to stardom "back east."
