Nine appealing snapshot photographs from the Deadball Era, each captured at Washington Park in Los Angeles. Washington Park served as home for the Pacific Coast League's Los Angeles Angels from 1911 until 1925 when the Angels moved into the newly built Wrigley Field. With use of a loupe it is clear at least two of the images indeed depict players sporting the familiar "LA" logo worn by the Angels on the left breast of their uniforms. All but one photo includes handwritten notations on verso providing some context to the images, including two indicating Hollywood actor Douglas Fairbanks is present. Interestingly, one of the photos includes a player sporting a mackinaw coat with a logo used by the Chicago Cubs in 1916 on his left sleeve (handwritten notation on verso reads "LA + Chicago"). Online newspaper archive research has revealed the Cubs and Angels scheduled annual spring games during this era and we have seen articles pertaining to these games from as early as 1917 into the 1920's. Four photos in this grouping measure approx. 3.5" x 5.5" with the remainder trimmed from that size to some degree. Nine early PCL snapshots total.
