Beautifully restored stadium seat originating from Crosley Field in Cincinnati, home of the Reds between 1912 and 1970. Removed from the park and repainted, the souvenir seat was affixed with a commemorative engraved plate that reads as follows:
"Genuine Box Seat From
Crosley Field
Home of the Cincinnati Reds
1934-70
Negro American League (Tigers, Clowns)
1937, 1942-45
Authenticity Guaranteed by
Seitz and Company
Saint Paul, Minn 55104-6030"
The plaque does not mention Redland Field, which was the name of the park between 1912 and 1934, when it was renamed after new owner Powel Crosley Jr.
The seat does appear in excellent condition, with a few nicks and marks. The wooden seat has been mountedto a heavy steel base and is sturdy enough to sit in, despite a split in the top slat on the back of the seat. Originating from the personal collection of Ohio native and Baltimore Orioles broadcaster Ted Patterson, a tremendous memento of early Ohio baseball. Please note that this piece is extremely heavy and will necessitate a significant packing and shipping cost, likely amounting to several hundred dollars; local pickup is welcome.
