Interesting broadside advertisement for the "Big Four Route," essentially the Cleveland, Chicago, and St. Louis Railway, which operated 60 trains per day to and from Cleveland during its peak. The advertisement promotes round-trip fares to Cleveland to see the Indians play the Washington Senators on May 17, 1925 - the day Tris Speaker got his 3,000th hit. Despite a 2-1 Washington victory in a pitcher's duel between Tom Zachary and George Uhle, player/manager Speaker went 3-for-4 on the day, to the delight of his fans.

The broadside measures 14" x 11" and is printed on chipboard. The piece exhibits significant wear, including a heavy tear about six inches in length from the bottom-center to the right edge, with a spider tear extending down to the bottom edge. A slight corner clip at the bottom-right is evident, as is some chipping and additional edge creasing here and there. The tears lie flat in a top-loader, however, creating an outstanding display. An excellent piece acknowledging the Cleveland sports fans' anticipation of Speaker's milestone event.
