I have one to sell!
Stunning example of the scarce "blue background" variety of the Sporting Life card from this Hall of Fame catcher. Sold by mail to subscribers of Sporting Life magazine the cards were issued in 24 series of 12 cards and sold for just four pennies per series. Virtually perfect the card exhibits sharp corners and a bold clean image and a Type 1 back. The M116 Sporting Life issue is a severely underrated set featuring all the stars of the day as well as beautiful back advertisements. The "blue background" variations are more scarce and desirable than the traditional pastel backgrounds selling for premiums as much as 50% higher as a result. This is the only known example to have graded this high (the card in the SGC population report is this one as it was crossed over from SGC to PSA prior to this auction). Population Data PSA Population: 24 total graded 1 at this level 0 higher SGC Population: 36 total graded 0 at this level 0 higher* *SGC's population report does not differentiate between blue and pastel backgrounds for this card so the true population is unknown. There is one SGC 88 Bresnahan listed in their population reports - that is this card which was crossed to PSA.
