Attractive pair of silver-plated beer steins dating to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Both steins have been manufactured by NG Wood & Company, a Boston-based silversmith. The collection includes the following: 1) Hammer Throw Second Prize: Awarded for the second prize winner in the 1898 Andover-Exeter dual athletic meet to E. H. Greene. Starting includes a raised seal for the Andover Exeter dual athletic meet with the date 1889 engraved on the seal. Engraved above and below the seal is the following: " Second prize throwing 16 pound hammers. Phillips Exeter campus, May 30, '98. E. H Greene." Stein largely appears in very good condition, with a nice patina all around. The base of the stein is dented in two areas, not really distracting. 2) Fraternity Stein: Stein commemorating the Alpha Iota chapter of an unknown fraternity. E.H. Greene's name is engraved at the bottom of the Stein along with the year 1902. It is in very good condition with some mild misshapenness along the base. Two steins total.
