By far the rarest of all the Mendelsohn-produced issues from 1916 are the Mall Theatre cards. Accounting for less than 1% of the population of all M101-4/5 backs according to Tim Newcomb and Todd Schultz in Old Cardboard, the cards are extraordinarily rare for the issue. Graded VG 3 by SGC, the card is the only graded example of Bancroft from the set and one of only 12 cards from the entire issue to have been graded by either company. Its rarity is unquestionable; it is one of just three Hall of Famers to have been graded from the issue. Though the technical grade might imply this is a lower-grade specimen, none of the graded examples from this issue have graded higher, and this particular card is clean and well-centered, with a strong image. The primary condition flaw here relates to corner wear, a minor issue when dealing with a card of such extreme rarity.
