Original Type I photograph of 29-year-old blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe greeting her fans in New York City. This 7" x 9" example from International is date stamped to September 14, 1954 on verso; exactly one day prior to filming of Marilyn's famous white skirt scene from her film The Seven Year Itch. Filmmakers posed Marilyn atop a windy subway grate on Lexington Ave. in New York City between 52nd and 53rd streets, allowing passing trains below to blow up her skirt and create the conditions for one of the most iconic still images of the 20th Century. Publicity stills from that day famously enraged her then husband, Yankees legend Joe DiMaggio, contributing to their divorce only a few short weeks later. Some visible staining on reverse with added pencil notations and a paper tag affixed with clear tape. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA.
