The 1950s Johnston Cookies Braves cards are among the most popular and desirable regional food issues of the 1950s. The 1955 issue was issued in folding panels of six cards each inserted into boxes of cookies or redeemable by mail. The result is that a larger percentage of higher-grade cards from the 1955 issue can be found than others; however perfection is still difficult. Of 713 1955 Johnston Coolies cards graded by PSA a mere 33 have attained a grade of MINT 9. This example is one of them one of just two cards of the Hall of Fame pitcher with a MINT 9 grade. If not for the slight L-R centering issue this card may have rated GEM MINT status as the remaining attributes of the card are stellar the colorful image of the Braves hurler clean and crisp against the grandstand in the background.
