Attractive, mint-fresh E92 Dockman card of famed (and infamous) first baseman Hal Chase, who garnered success at the plate and controversy over game-fixing. He starred first with the Yankees and later with other clubs, including two years with Buffalo of the 1914-15 Federal League and a batting title with Cincy in 1916.
The SGC VG-EX 4 grade reflects slightly rounded corners, centering a touch northward, and light toning on the reverse. Its otherwise clean, clear surfaces resemble higher technical grades. The Dockman & Sons Gum Co. printed tobacco-sized cards for a number of subjects, including baseball, and this gum set remains its most popular. Given the close resemblance in size and style to others of its era, Dockman might have added their promotional text to cards created by another producer.
