Hage's Dairy of Southern California sponsored regional card sets from 1949-51, offered at concession stands for Lane Field Park, home of the PCL San Diego Padres. Most came packaged with popcorn and it's possible others entered the hobby via company or team promotions. 1950 singles prove tough indeed to find, as the PSA population report counts 66 total graded for its 128-player checklist. All 1950 cards come with black-and-white fronts and use similar text size for player and team names, distinguishing it from Hage's other years.
On the stat sheet, slugger Jack Graham looks like someone who'd get more playing time in today's environment that prioritizes power hitting over contact and speed. His personal high of 48 PCL homers garnered four different poses in this 1950 set and this is one of two that shows him hitting.
The SGC VG-EX 4 grade reflects slight corner rounding on what appears to be an otherwise crease-free card. While centering is a touch southward, his bio and the Hage's logo look clean and clear, with a complimentary bio for Jack. A light scratch on its front surface might explain an otherwise pessimistic score. Scarcity trumps technical grade for almost all Hage's cards, as their population report shows just six total across SGC/PSA population reports. Of the five SGC graded for this pose variation, none are higher!
