Please note: our printed catalog states this collection spans 1922-75, when in-fact it spans 1916-75.

Incredible album full of correspondence spanning the career of Bill Skiff, who spent a lifetime in professional baseball as a player, manager, and scout. Over 100 pieces of ephemera related to Skiff's career beginning in 1916 and culminating with his death in 1975, are contained within the album, which includes letterheads from numerous minor and major league franchises, and signatures from a variety of baseball executives. Several of the earliest signatures included are those of various minor league team presidents during the 1920's and 30's. Album contains slightly heavier emphasis on Skiff's time as manager for the Pacific Coast League's Seattle Rainiers from 1941-46. Signatures included that we can readily identify: Max Carey (first name only), F.L. Clark, John H. Clarkin, Joe Cronin (first name only), Win Clark, Tex Corthay, Wilbur C. Crelin, Bert Daly, Jimmy Dykes, James H. Egan, Joe Engel, Jim Ewell (2), Fred Haney, Roy Haney, Ford Frick, Warren Giles (5), T.J. Hickey (3), Clark P. Lane, Lou Maguolo, Eugen J. Martin (2), Joe B. McCarthy (not the HOFer), Marvin Milkes (2 - first name only), George Muehleback (3), J.H. Patrick, Jim Phelan, Gus Poulos, Pants Rowland, Ken Smith (multiple), Maurice J. Sullivan, Gil Torres (2), Fuller Warren, Ellen Weber, George Weiss, Jo-Jo White. A minimum of 35 individual signatures with some duplication. A handful of additional signatures are contained within the album but are either illegible or unrelated to baseball. A truly absorbing assemblage of material from the life and career of Bill Skiff, who spent over five decades in organized baseball. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
