Fascinating trove of 50 original photographs captured during Columbia University's gridiron campaigns of the late 1920's and early 1930's. 31 of the included photos depict individual Columbia Lions players, with heavy emphasis on star captain, Ralph Hewitt who also played one season of minor league baseball within the New York Yankees organization. College Football Hall of Fame coach, Lou Little is well represented within the group which also includes a c.1920's image of College Football Hall of Famer, Walter Koppisch who starred as a halfback in the NFL for two season (1925-26).

19 of the included photos feature in-game action (13) or a portion of the team during training (6), with most of these examples featuring paper captions or date stamping attributing the images to 1931. Coach Lou Little can be found overseeing his men in five of the training photos while all but one of the 19 include credit stamping from Wide World or the Associated Press on verso.

Photos of individual players and coaches within the collection include: Bill Adler, Malcolm Bleecker, Ed Brominski (out of uniform), Charles Crowley, Ralph Hewitt (13), Charlie Joyce (3), Walter Koppisch, Lou Little (2), Bill McDuffee (2), James Sheridan, Joe Stanscyzk (2), Remy Tys, Ed Weinstock (2). Vast majority of all photos across the group measure 8" x 10" and display credit stamping from either the Associated Press, International, Underwood, or Wide World, with many original paper captions still affixed. A substantial collection of quality early college football photography. 50 photos total.
