Outstanding season press pass to Shea Stadium to see the New York Mets throughout the 1966 season, as issued to Jack Hand of the Associated Press. Managed by Wes Westrum, the 1966 Mats were a dismal team, posting a record of 66-95, with a team batting average of .239 and Ed Kranepool leading the team with 17 home runs. Even the Mets' great pitching staff of the late 1960s had not begun to take shape.  However, Jack Hand could have used this pass to witness one historic late-season event. On September 11 against the Atlanta Braves, a young pitcher named Nolan Ryan would take the mound in the 6th inning. He would pitch two innings, giving up one run on a home run by future Hall of Famer Joe Torre. Hand may not have realized the career he was watching take formation - Ryan would pitch in one more game, giving up 4 earned runs in one inning on September 18 in Houston.  The pass has been graded GOOD 2 by PSA, but presents far stronger - some glue stains and toning on the reverse along with a long, horizontal crease are responsible for the grade.  A very significant piece.
