Discoverer of a unique mud found along the banks of the Delaware River in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Lena Blackburne had a greater impact on the game than almost anyone. His "Baseball Rubbing Mud" has been used by every major league team for nearly a century to remove the sheen and tackiness of a brand-new baseball.  His playing career was far more modest, though he also served as a coach, manager and scout.
