1933 Type I photograph of George Herman "Babe" Ruth posed as a pitcher at Yankee Stadium. Despite not seeing action on the mound since 1921, the Babe famously tossed a complete game shutout nine years later at Fenway Park on the final day of the 1930 season. When this image of Ruth was captured he was again set to take the the mound, this time on the last day of the 1933 campaign. It would be the final pitching performance of Ruth's career, and another complete game victory for the aging superstar. Historic, fresh to the hobby photo measures 6.5" x 8.5", complete with full paper caption on verso dated to on 9/29/33 proclaiming:
"Famous home run king of the New York Yankees, has been granted permission by Joe McCarthy, his manager, to pitch against the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium Oct. 1st."
Sepia toned photo remains in excellent overall condition with a small imperfection to the lower-left corner. Large credit stamping from International has been applied to verso below the included paper caption that details Ruth's early history with the Boston Red Sox. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type I photo by PSA/DNA.
