Large format 7" x 14" Type I photo featuring NBA superstar, Michael Jordan during the prime of his career. Jordan has been photographed at Chicago Stadium on January 24, 1989 amid a moment of vulnerability as he's assisted to the bench by Bulls trainer, Mark Pfeil. Jordan, the NBA's 1988 scoring leader and Most Valuable Player, had just bruised his left knee while guarding small forward, Mark Aguirre of the Dallas Mavericks. Jordan would leave the game after a long delay, only to return and lead his Chicago Bulls with 24 points in a 109-91 rout. Satin-finish photo displays typical handling wear associated with working press photos, including abrasion to the corners and a scuff by Pfeil's right foot. A few creases are present within top third of photo, with two small areas where black has been added by what appears to be use of a Sharpie; these areas include a spot by Pfeil's right knee, and an approx 1" line above Pfeil's head. Verso includes very large paper caption from the Chicago Sun-Times affixed with clear tape identifying the photographer as one Phil Velasquez. A small newspaper clipping also remains affixed to verso, with a secondary label present in the upper-left corner further attributing the image to Phil Velasquez. Several date stamps and handwritten notations have been applied to verso and appear scattered about the perimeter. Despite photo being too large for encapsulation it has nevertheless been deemed an original Type I photo by PSA/DNA and includes their full LOA.
