Attractive, colorful promotional advertising poster for the Frank Graham biography Lou Gehrig - A Quiet Hero.  Measuring approximately 14" x 22" and framed to a finished size of 20" x 28", the poster features an illustration of a smiling Gehrig, inset into three color artwork with typography reading "An inspiring biography of a grand fellow as told by a famous sports writer who was his close personal friend." A price of $2.00 is shown in reverse-out printing underneath the copy.  Inside the frame, it is difficult for us to ascertain the exact material that the piece is constructed of, though we believe it to be some sort of lightweight board. The condition appears strong, with some age-related discoloration around the edges.  Some tiny edge tears are visible, and pinholes can be observed at the bottom center, as well as along the top edge, two of which have torn through to the edge.  The condition flaws are minor, however, and do not interfere with the eye appeal of the piece.

This is the only example of this poster we have ever encountered.  Utilizing alternate artwork than the original book cover, it is a curious piece, certainly original and authentic, but without information about how, or where, the piece was produced.  It was consigned by a knowledgeable collector of rare baseball books. Surely a rare piece, perhaps unique.
