The various E91 issues are often overlooked among hobbyists, as the
illustrative images have long been considered "generic" illustrations
like the N284 Buchner "Gold Coin" cards, none intended to resemble its
actual subject. However, extraordinary research conducted by collector
Brian Parker has convinced us that many of the images in this
set are derived from actual player photos, including roughly two-thirds of the E91-A set.
This example, featuring Chicago second baseman Johnny Evers, exhibits nice centering, save for some minor diamond cutting which leaves the top left corner just a hair higher than the right. Some light soiling around the perimeter and on the card's reverse keep this one from grading even higher than it already has, though this is an extraordinary example seldom seen with this sort of visual appeal.
SGC has only ever graded 19 total examples of this 1908 E91A, with only ONE receiving a higher grade than the VG-EX 4 offered here of Hall of Famer Johnny Evers.
