The 1952 Coca-Cola
Tips cards were a 10-card set distributed in the New York area
featuring players from the three New York baseball teams. Though widely
popular, due to the die-cutting, these are highly condition-sensitive.
Giants third baseman Bobby Thomson is
the
subject of this example, graded Poor 1 by
PSA with some surface wear at the top of the schedule. This set came out just months after Thomson's "Shot
Heard 'Round The World" which famously won the Giants the 1951 National
League Pennant. Thomson's newfound celebrity was enough to warrant
giving him two of the ten examples in this set. One showed the third
baseman hitting, and this one shows him fielding.
The scarcity of this issue far outweighs any cosmetic flaws on this example. PSA has only ever graded 27 total examples of this card.
