Attractive Cuban issued card of the great Hall of Famer Martin Dihigo. Dihigo pitched and played infield in the American Negro Leagues as well as in Cuba the country of his birth. He broke into American baseball in 1923 with the Cuban Stars playing consistently through 1936 and then again with the New York Cubans for a brief period in 1945. He played in the Cuban League consistently from 1922 through 1947 and in the Mexican league as well. Across all the different leagues in which he played he posted a lifetime .302 batting average and a 252-132 pitching record winning the Cuban League MVP award twice and elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame not only in America but in Cuba and Mexico as well. The card has been graded PR-FR 1 by PSA due to creasing and wear consistent with the grade. However these cards are typically found in off grades and an example with strong corners and clean borders as this one makes it possible to overlook the technical grade. Cuban cards are rarely found in top condition particularly ones like Caramelo Deportivo which were printed on lightweight paper. An outstanding card of one of the greatest players of the Negro Leagues. Population Data PSA Population: 4 total graded 4 at this level 0 higherSGC Population: 8 total graded 6 at this level 2 higher
