In terms of beauty and utility, many collectors refer to The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin & Company as the quintessential hobby book, and in recent months others tout Baseball Photography of the Deadball Era. Both are tremendous books, and both are absolutely essential tomes. An overlooked gem, however, is the 2022 book Before and After Jackie Robinson, which explores all manner of Brooklyn Dodgers collectibles. Its author, Dan Busby, was diligently working on this book before contracting a horrific case of Covid, and almost simultaneously was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Dan was able to complete the book before his passing, and it is one of the hobby's most beautiful and useful tools. We are glad to tout it here.
From the team's last season at Washington park, a Grand Stand ticket stub for a Brooklyn Dodgers game. The team was managed by Bill Dahlen with rookie Casey Stengel playing 17 games for the team. The game is, unfortunately, not able to be identified, but Mr. Busby has done the hard work in showing us how to identify old, undated Dodgers tickets in his wonderful book. GOOD condition with some wear, and an irregular tear at the perforation, a ticket from Casey Stengel's rookie season.
