We are dating this piece to 1892 simply because of our knowledge of its sister piece, offered elsewhere in this auction, featuring a team photo of the 1892 New York Giants.  This example features composite image of members of the Brooklyn team, and indeed, all were members of the 1892 Brooklyn team. Adonis Terry, pictured in the middle row, right, did not appear in any games for Brooklyn in 1892, as injuries and ineffectiveness limited his appearances in 1891, and although he spent the first two months of the 1892 season with the club, he never played a game.  Eventually he was released and signed almost immediately with the Baltimore Orioles.

Hall of Famers Dan Brouthers and John Montgomery Ward are pictured in the composite, as are a number of well-known 19th Century names like Tom Daly, Tommy Corcoran, Brickyard Kennedy, Con Daily, and Dave Foutz. FAIR condition with creasing and a number of edge tears.
