The Cowboys defeated the Giants 20–13 in the first Monday Night Football meeting between the teams and the last NFL game at the Cotton Bowl. It was also the first Monday Night Football win in Cowboys history. The Cowboys have made a record 89 appearances on Monday Night Football. Their 51 MNF wins are third all-time, but this was their first. An important game in franchise history, and an important game in television history.
