For decades the 1990-91 Hoops Mark Jackson basketball card was mostly an afterthought, and for good reason. It was just another card of a decent player in the junk wax era of basketball. But in late 2018, prices on this particular card skyrocketed. Jackson hadn't been coach of the Golden State Warriors since the end of the 2013-14 NBA season, so it wasn't anything to do with that.

In the photo on the card, the Knicks point guard leans to his left to make a pass. Between his right hip and the gray border on the left edge of the card happen to be the infamous Menendez Brothers. Yes, the Menendez Brothers who are serving life sentences after fatally shooting their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, on August 20, 1989. However, it wasn’t until the following March that the brothers were arrested. In the interim between the murders and the brothers' arrests, Lyle and Eric bought cars, expensive trips, Rolex watches, and, apparently, courtside seats to at least one Knicks game at Madison Square Garden.

While the card itself isn't particularly scarce, it did become hard to acquire, as many sites such as eBay removed any listings of the card due to its grim nature. We offer one here, graded PSA EX-MT 6, to satisfy your curiosities.
