The first series of cards in the T206 set were issued beginning in 1909 in cigarette and loose tobacco packs through 16 different brands owned by the American Tobacco Company. It is a landmark set in the history of baseball card collecting due to its size and rarity, with cards of over 500 major and minor-league players issued in the set through 1911. It is known informally as the "White Border" set due to the distinctive white borders surrounding the quality color lithographs on each card.

Hall of Famer Walter Johnson holds his hands at his chest as he gets ready to begin his pitching motion in this colorful example. The light blue sky and a hint of green grass in the background add the perfect pops of color to an otherwise mostly-white card, as Johnson's uniform and cap are the same color as the card's distinctive borders. Centering is just north on the canvas, with nice corners and very nice edges for the grade. Some general soiling on the surface, particularly noticeable along the perimeter, and a strangely cut top border, keep this card from grading even higher than it already has. The printing on the Sweet Cap back is bold and in tact, giving each side of this Hall of Fame example some classic eye appeal.
