Well worn 1895 scorecard from the Atlantic City Base Ball Association, chronicling a game between the Atlantic City and Bridgeton teams.  The Atlantic City team won the game, 13-3. Larger than the typical scorecard, this folds to a size of 7 1/8" x 11 1/4". It is constructed of extremely brittle paper and is thus extremely delicate. At some point in its life it was folded into thirds, and each of the folds has begun to separate, held together with clear tape. The main fold (the one which folds it in half) has completely separated into two, the split also repaired with clear tape, but the piece is so old that even the clear tape has split, so that the entire piece hangs together by a thread that will undoubtedly come apart with any significant handling. In addition to the separations, a considerable amount of paper loss is evident at the edges, as the brittle paper has simply flaked away with time.  Note that we do not recommend any degree of handling of this piece. Still, an excellent piece documenting the long history of baseball in New Jersey.
