First edition hardcover version of the classic "Casey At The Bat," by Phineas Thayer. Spectacular artwork with woodcut illustrations by Dan Sayre Groesbeck, published by A. C. McClurg & Co of Chicago in 1912. Good condition, with significant wear to the spine and edges particularly at the top-left corner, where the board has torn away from the spine (the board is included, but detached). Light tears to the top and bottom of the spine light pencil writing on the green paper inside page binding intact. Cover depicts a baseball bat wrapped in a gift ribbon with gold lettering, all of which have faded considerably with time. Lovely interior illustrations a wonderful first edition example of one of the game's most famous and enduring stories.
