The 1936 Wheaties Series 3 set contains 12 total cards. It is one of
several series issued from 1935-1941. Since the cards originally came on the back
of Wheaties cereal boxes and were meant to be hand-cut from the boxes, sizing is often irregular.
Yankees legend Lou Gehrig is the subject of this example which is centered nicely and has been very well cut. While there are some irregularities particularly in the top and bottom borders, the image itself is dark and bold, with great clarity. Some light surface abrasions near the top left corner keep this one from grading even higher than it already has, but this one has absolutely tremendous eye appeal, showing The Iron Horse stretching out with his gorgeous glove to make a play at first base.
PSA has only ever graded 17 total examples of this 1936 Wheaties Series 3 card, with only eight receiving a higher grade than the Fair 1.5 offered here of Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig.
