1971 National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee, Dave Bancroft takes a hack in this original photograph from International. An outstanding depiction of the Hall of Famer that can be found immortalized on his 1916 M101-4 Sporting News card and related variants. Measuring 6.5" x 8.5", the photo has been captured at New York's Polo Grounds early in Bancroft's 1915-20 tenure with the Philadelphia Phillies. Subsequent to his time with Philadelphia the shortstop cemented himself as a premier player of the era; capturing two World Series championships and three consecutive pennants with the New York Giants between 1921-23 while serving as their captain. Photo surface displays tremendously well with only typical wear to the corners, presumably from decades of storage in a photo archive. Verso remains clean with a hint of toning around the perimeter and scattered unobtrusive smudging. Large credit stamping from the International Film Service has been applied towards the lower-left corner, identifying them as the issuing news photo service. Please note that the card shown is for illustration purposes only and is not included. Authenticated and encapsulated as a Type 1 photo by PSA/DNA.
