With Willie Mays' passing in 2024, his accomplishments and collectibles are getting even more attention. Well deserved for sure, but all along his iconic 1951 Bowman rookie issue has been gaining momentum as one of the most desired cards in the hobby, a "must have" in any elite collection. Proudly presented here is an example of Mays' colorful cardboard debut in a solid VG-EX+. The card is sharp and clear, with excellent color and print registration, a marvelous example for collectors unconcerned with centering.  The centering, of course, notoriously off with this card, is its primary flaw, as the image sits at the extreme bottom left of the canvas.  Still, the image itself carries extremely strong eye appeal for the grade.  One of the key cards in the immensely popular 1951 Bowman issue, the rookie card of one of the greatest players the game has ever seen.
