Quite underrated due to a shortage of star power, the T207 issue of 1912
is one of the most fascinating of all prewar tobacco issues. With
varying levels of scarcity, a number of tough individual rarities,
difficult front/back combinations and a condition-sensitive gloss on the
card fronts, assembling a strong T207 set is quite a collecting
challenge.
This example features Boston pitcher Eddie Cicotte, who later went on to become one of the ring leaders of the Black Sox Scandal. Centering is nice here, but the paper loss in the top right corner keep this card from grading any higher. Some more paper loss in the first paragraph of the Recruit Little
Cigars, as well. Nevertheless, a really unique card from one of baseball's greatest "what if" pitchers, and the scarcity of this issue far outweighs any cosmetic flaws on this example.
