The “Little
Champ” was one of the finest boxers of all time but is notorious for
carrying opponents to win bets. He also played the role of intermediary
between the ballplayers and gangster Arnold Rothstein during the Black Sox Scandal of the 1919
World Series.
Centering is very nice, with some paper loss on the back and light soiling around the perimeter of the front keeping the card from grading higher than it already has. Corners and edges are consistent with the grade, while the beautiful colors and striking pose give this one tremendous eye appeal.
SGC has only ever graded 36 total examples of this 1910 E79 Philadelphia Caramel, with only nineteen receiving a higher grade than the Good+ 2.5 offered here of International Boxing Hall of Famer Abe Attell.
