The Breisch-Williams E107 set of 1903 is important because it was the first major baseball card set of the 20th Century.  Featuring sharp, black-and-white photographic images, the E107 set contains approximately 147 subjects and has become a popular set among advanced collectors due to the number of Hall of Fame rookie cards, along with the overall scarcity of the set.  High-grade E107s are virtually nonexistent, with very few examples graded at the EX/MT level or better by either grading company.  The cards are frequently found damaged and torn, with front and back images typically suffering from wrinkling, staining, paper loss, and scrapbook damage.  In fact, approximately half the graded population of E107s have been assessed at a level of 2 or lower.

This example of Hall of Fame pitcher Eddie Plank has been graded PR 1 by SGC, and while the assigned grade is technically accurate, the eye appeal is strong for the grade.  The image is clear and sharp, the well-known Horner image striking against a stark white background.  Surface wear and creasing are pronounced, with some heavy creasing and scratching resulting in areas of paper loss along the right side of the card. The reverse exhibits some staining, along with a strip of clear tape that appears to have been applied to protect the card from tearing at the damaged edge of the card. Despite this heavy wear, eye appeal is strong.  An outstanding card from a significant set, a rookie card of Hall of Fame pitcher "Gettysburg Eddie" Plank.
