Ed Sproat pitched in three games for the St. Louis Whites of the Western Association in 1888. He went 2-1, throwing 3 complete games and a total of 29 innings. One of five different poses of Sproat in the N172 issue, this is catalogued as #434-2. 

Centering is slightly east on the canvas, but corners and edges look very strong for the grade. The quality of the printing is tremendous, and the contrast allows for every detail within the photo to pop. Sproat's dark uniform looks a little too big for him, especially his pants, which are loose and flowing in a way untypical of the time. All text is clear and perfectly legible, and the back of the card is clean, as well.
