Ed Andrews played for Philadelphia's National League club from 1884 through 1889, patrolling Center Field for most of that time. His speed helped him steal 35 or more bases in three seasons, leading the league with 56 in 1886. There are six poses of Andrews in the N172 issue, and while each of them is extremely difficult, this entry depicting him holding a bat with his right hand while his left hand sits on his hip, has the fewest examples graded, according to PSA's population report.

Great contrast makes this image easily visible, with the beauty of the studio backdrop behind the subject creating wonderful visual interest. PSA has only graded two total examples of this pose, with this VG 3 example being the higher of the two.
