Emil Huhn was a catcher and first baseman who played three seasons of major league baseball, including with the 1915 Newark Peppers of the Federal League. After acting .227 in 124 Federal League games, Huhn was purchased by the Cincinnati Reds, where he played in 60 games between 1916 and 1917. He continued to play in the minors through 1925, when he was a player-manager for the Augusta Tygers. On September 5 of 1925, after a minor league game, Hahn was driving six of his players back to Augusta when he lost control of the vehicle on a curve, the car rolling over and landing in a ditch. Huhn was killed instantly and his front seat passenger, catcher Frank Reiser, died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Huhn was just 33 years old.
