Likely the most popular and desirable of all the N173 Old Judge cabinets, this example featuring Hall of Famer Cap Anson depicts the popular player in dapper street clothes in the classic pose that has been reproduced countless times throughout the hobby.  This example, despite the low technical grade, boasts strong image contrast (the image on this card is often faded), the Chicago captain's icy gaze fixed off camera in an intense stare.  Owner of a .334 lifetime batting average over an astonishing 27 seasons, Anson hit under .300 just twice in his career, never posting an average below .285.  The card exhibits some surface abrasions, as well as some staining and what appears to be scrapbook damage, largely restricted to the border areas of the card and the peach-colored mount.  Staining and damage is also visible on the reverse, but it should be noted that little of the wear and damage intrudes on the image area. An exceptional example given the grade.
