The 2001 Team Topps Legends Autographs issue is actually a 113-card set that was randomly inserted into a variety of Topps produce issued between 2001 and 2003. Most of the subjects in the subset were assigned two cards, each one a replica of a classic card. Due to their method of distribution, some of the cards are considered scarce. The first numbered card in the issue is that of Willie Mays, card #TT1R a replica of his gorgeous 1952 Topps card, with an authentic Sharpie signature in the area reserved for the player's facsimile signature on the original issue. In this case, the signature has rated a perfect GEM MINT 10 with PSA/DNA. Sadly, the day before this catalog design was completed, the great Willie Mays passed away, this card a fitting tribute to one of only a small handful of players legitimately in the discussion for the greatest player ever.
