Gorgeous card of Jackie Robinson which has become one of his most well-known issues. Centering is a
notorious problem with the 1955 Topps set, and it is on this example,
too. Some slight diamond cutting is present, with centering to the west of the canvas.
The colors are bright and beautiful, from the yellow background to blues of Jackie's hats and undershirt, to the reds of the Dodgers logo and the text. While there is some faint edge chipping, the corners are strong. Light discoloration particularly along the bottom border keeps the card from a
higher grade, but this offering still has tremendous eye appeal.
1955
was finally "next year" for the Brooklyn Dodgers, who beat their longtime rival New York Yankees in 7 games to win their first ever World Series. They had previously won ten National League pennants, losing in the World Series to the Yankees in each of their five previous trips.
