Beautiful photograph of Chicago White Sox owner Charles Comiskey, as distributed on October 21, 1909 by the Sporting News as
part of an issue that featured 100 different supplements distributed
between 1909 and 1913. This offering has been well-preserved and is now
protected in a PSA slab. Despite exhibiting
age-related wear - particularly folding/creasing and edge chipping - this offering has tremendous eye appeal.
The details on this photo are spectacular, as this image has become one of the most famous ever taken of Comiskey. Note the textures visible in his hat and on his jacket, only possible due to the large format printing of this classic portrait.
The piece had been previously
folded, with the crease running across the top right corner but missing any part of Comiskey on the image. While the piece has some light staining on the
back,
the image is still extremely presentable and would make for
an excellent display. An outstanding document, particularly
interesting to White Sox (or Black Sox) collectors.
