The 1956 Topps issue is one of the most popular of the era, and the last of the larger-format card issues before Topps adopted the size now considered to be standard with its 1957 issue. This White Back version of the #5 Ted Williams card from the set is a gorgeous example featuring a rare smiling portrait of Teddy Ballgame in the foreground, and his iconic swing in the background. Slight diamond cutting is present here, with centering just south on the horizontal canvas. Some light surface abrasions and snow keep this one from grading even higher than it has, but there is plenty of eye appeal on both sides of this splendid card.
