The National Police Gazette was a sporting-related tabloid-style magazine
promoting "pictures of baseball and other sports" but which often
included sensational stories with risque photographs and illustrations.
This full-page image of Giants
hopeful Jim Thorpe was a supplement to the May 24, 1913 issue. It boasts
sharp edges and corners, with amazing photographic detail. Note the
ribbing in his socks, and the raised fabric of the interlocking NY logo
on his left sleeve. This offering is clean and beautiful with nothing
more than some light wear to the
photo itself and some faint staining around the borders. A very
desirable scarce offering.
