Bowman sometimes shared Mickey Mantle with Topps, and the result was a
brace of fantastic looking cards coming out in the first half of the
1950s. His 1954 Bowman is a sleeper, with collectors coming around to
its charms of late. It's easy to see why on this PSA VG 3 example, with
its fluffy clouds and bright blue sky behind a beaming young
Mick.
There is some gum residue on the surface and the centering slightly west on the canvas. A little snow helps explain the card's technical grade, but, especially with the clean back, this offering has tremendous eye appeal on both sides.
If you want a Mickey Mantle card from 1954, this is your only option, as no other Mantles were produced that year.
