Featuring Hall of Famers Red Schoendienst Enos Slaughter and Stan Musial (and featuring batboy Bee Bop Smallmon easily the most famous batboy to grace a Topps card until bested by the Aurelio Rodriguez card of 1969) the greatest distinction of the 1950 St. Louis Cardinals is probably being known as the most scarce card of the 1951 Topps Teams set. The team finished in fifth place in the National League 12 1/2 games behind the Phillies. Despite Musial"s stellar .346/28/109 season the MVP was won by Phillies pitcher Jim Konstanty with Musial finishing second.Strong for the grade this card features general wear but nothing overly significant. The downgrade is likely due to a small but heavy crease at the bottom-right corner along with general corner wear. The image quality however is strong. The Standard Catalog has long maintained that the Cardinals card along with that of the Boston Red Sox is the most scarce in an already-scarce set. This is an outstanding example of that card a strong image in collector grade a strong example of a very tough card.Population DataPSA Population: 23 total graded 1 at this level 20 higherSGC Population: 5 total graded 0 at this level 5 higher
