Never a household name, Lou Chiozza was a utility man for the Phillies and Giants during the mid-to-late Thirties. and was in his final major league season when Play Ball included him in their 1939 offering. He's signed in black ink, creating the sole example of this combination in the PSA/DNA database, which they have designated as Authentic.  Chiozza died in 1971 and missed the autograph show renaissance, making his signature tough no matter what the medium.  Paper loss is evident on the reverse, the product of long-ago scrapbook removal by the family of the original collector.  The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
