Jimmie Deshong had the misfortune to just miss pitching on World Series teams during his seven year career in the American League not once, but twice. 1932?  Philadelphia A's. 1934-35? New York Yankees. He then joined the Senators who were beginning a slow descent into the basement that lasted for a quarter-century until the team was mercifully relocated to Minnesota. His contract was sold to the Yankees in June of 1939 but a return bid to the Bombers never materialized and he missed out yet again on a Championship chance. He is a Senator on his 1939 Play Ball card, which he has signed in blue ink, which seems to have been running a little slow as he commenced but looking quite nice overall, with PSA/DNA Authentic the assessment and the only one in their pop report for this card/auto combo. The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
