Debs (short for nothing, that was his real name) Garms had some good years in the majors and would win the 1940 NL batting title after being traded away by the Braves to the Pirates. Born in Bangs, Texas (not Bango, as the card's text indicates) he seemed destined to have a loud bat and he did!  This 1939 Play Ball has scrap book residue showing on the back with a nicely preserved obverse.  The signature is in blue ink, deemed Authentic by PSA/DNA and has a slashed look, with some slight lift toward the end.  Garms passed in 1984, rendering his signature relatively difficult, particularly on a card.  The reverse exhibits some paper remnants, from long-ago scrapbook removal.  The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
