Lew Riggs played on three straight NL pennant winners, the Red in 1939 & 1940 (with a ring won in the latter year) and the Dodgers in 1941.  He's signed this PSA Authentic 1939 Play Ball in dark, black ink with a little bit of a geometric flair.  PSA/DNA has given this fabulous autograph a grade of GEM MINT 10 and it's a winner all right, just like Riggs.  Riggs passed in 1975, and his signature is quite rare as a result of his relatively early demise.  Paper remnants are visible on the reverse, the result of scrapbook removal. The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
