Hall of Famer Jesse Haines signed and inscribed this card, proudly pointing out his 18-year stretch with the St. Louis Cardinals, all but one of his major league appearances being with that legendary team (he pitched one game with the 1918 Cincinnati Reds before breaking in with St. Louis in 1920). Haines won 20 games in three different seasons, finishing his career with a 210-158 record and a 3.64 ERA during the live ball era. His signature and inscription have earned a grade of MINT 9 with PSA/DNA. The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail. Haines died in 1978.
